Guten abend from Linz, Austria! We were in Passau earlier and met with my Tante Julianna (Aunt), Onkel Franz, and my cousin, Regina, who is my aunt's daughter. My mother's younger sister and brother were so thrilled to see us, and my aunt couldn't stop crying for joy at seeing the niece (me) that she last saw when I was just a baby. My uncle LOVED the Chicago Bears hat we gave him as his other Bavarian hat made his head sweat...too funny! We said he was "cool" and they all understood what that meant as they use that term in Germany as well. They took us to see a few historic places in Passau, and the Church of St. Stephan was just amazing....it has the world's largest working organ. Can't wait for you to see the photos and video I took! We returned to the ship around 11:30 and set sail again down the Blue Danube. It was only about 10 minutes down the river when we crossed into Austria!! What beautiful scenery for the next several hours...unbelievable. Still can't believe I'm here in my homeland!! We are now docked in the city of Linz in Austria, and tomorrow we will be in Vienna where my sister and I will tour and then go to a concert at the grand hall in Vienna....a Strauss concert! WOW!! That was always my Dad's favorite music and composer, so I know he'll be with us then. Well, off to dinner....have had laryngitis since yesterday, but strained my voice as best I could to talk with my relatives today....am paying for it now, but I don't care!!!! Hope all is well at SJB...I think about and pray for you each day. In fact, in every church we been at...and it's been several already, I light a candle for my family, friends, and second "family" at SJB..God bless.
Love, Ms. Schels
