Hi, again! Before arriving in Vienna this afternoon, we toured this AMAZING monastery in Melk, Austria.
I took tons of photos of this beautiful church and grounds overlooking the Blue Danube River. Lots of interesting information about the building of the church and the different periods of our Church's history.
Wait until you see the pictures of the Baroque-style church that honors St. Benedict. There's even a glass
coffin that holds the skeletal remains of St. Friedrich from almost a thousand years ago. The town of Melk at the foot of the abby is another quaint village with all kinds of stores....took a picture of "my store" in town!
We had a night-time tour of Vienna and attended a Strauss concert in one of the many opera halls in this great cultural center of Austria and Europe. It was unbelievable! We'll return for a longer tour of Vienna
tomorrow morning, and my sister and I will stay behind afterwards to explore the city some more on our own. Tomorrow night we set sail for Budapest and will tour there on Saturday before flying to Frankfurt, Germany early Sunday morning. Then we head to Chicago later in the day after hanging out in Frankfurt for a few hours. If we have no delays, I'll be back in Chicago later on Sunday. See you all on Tuesday morning, awake or not!!
Take care!!
Love,
Ms. Schels
Have You seen the sludge in Hungary that filled most of the town? We saw the story on student news. John wants to know if you are really in Germany or if you are just at home taking a break. Michael O and John still miss you bunches.
